Please tell us a little bit about yourself.

My name is Megan and I grew up in Covington, TN; a small town in the Tipton County district. I moved to Nashville, TN in 2004 to enroll in college and have made Nashville my permanent residence.

What inspires you to do the work that you do?

I get my inspiration whenever I know that I have made a positive impact on my students and when I see their eyes light up as they learn.

What do you love about teaching in your respective city/town?

Thanks to the Knowledge is Power Program (KIPP), I have established a good rapport with my colleagues and students. This program was designed to educate public and charter school kindergarten children through college students nationwide. It gives me great pleasure to be apart of this innovative program that empowers the students in our community and help them to create learning opportunities.

Do you have a favorite quote, movie or book that helps motivate you and the work that you do?

One of my favorite quotes is by the American poet, civil rights activist, and author; Dr. Maya Angelou.

As a teacher, I believe that these words of wisdom can help us as educators share our expertise and resources and transform education into our classrooms.

Is there anything else that you'd like to share about yourself and/or the work that you do?

After graduating High School, I obtained my first degree in Mortuary Science, followed by a degree in African American Studies. Finally, I received a Masters Degree in Health Care Administration. Presently, I am enrolled in Relay Graduate School of Education.
